ABQ's Upcoming "Bicycle Boulevard" Zone

Update: Here's the report I ran. I suggest you watch the video so you can see what the new street signs will look like. Here's also the dukecityfix.com blog post by Johnny_Mango that started it all. Great job JM. Bicycle Boulevard is a great concept.

Running a story on KOB-TV tonight (6:30 pm) about the new Bicycle Boulevard the City of Albuquerque has in the works.

Here are the plans (PDF).

This essentially means a seven-mile stretch from Mountain, through 14th street, through Silver, ending at San Mateo will get a mild face lift with new street signs and lower speed-limit signs.

I was told by Ben Sovaca (Vice-prez of BikeABQ) that this idea started with a Dukecityfix.com posting by Johnny_Mango (still trying to find old posting).

Seems like a great idea. Expect the new Bicycle Boulevard to start taking shape by the spring.
